France Digitale, the largest association of startups and investors in Europe, has unveiled the 2025 mapping of artificial intelligence (AI) startups. This mapping confirms France’s position as a European leader in AI, showcasing startups deploying solutions across the entire AI value chain.

France Confirms Its Role as a European AI Leader

Nearly two years after the previous edition (released in March 2023), the latest mapping highlights France’s reinforced leadership in the European AI ecosystem. With nearly 750 French startups developing AI-integrated products, services, or foundational AI infrastructures, this represents a net increase of 27%. By comparison, Germany counts 687 AI startups.

Within France, Paris remains the undisputed hub for AI startups, with 63% of startups based in the Île-de-France region. Occitanie ranks second (6.5%), followed by Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes (6.1%) and Provence-Alpes-Côte-d’Azur (5.7%).
